vocalist |ˈvōkəlist|nouna singer, typically one who regularly performs with a jazz or pop group.
I have found inspiration. Music is a big part of my life. I am not vocally gifted nor understand the complexities of playing an instrument but find that the music of other people plays a profound role in my life. I appreciate good music, plain and simple. From Bluegrass to Jazz to Rap, i find picking the appropriate music for the occasion a soothing and entertaining process.
Music and memories go hand in hand. I remember dancing with my dad to Prima Donna (yes from Phantom of the Opera) and twirling, my first concert being THE Spice Girls and the all powerful Macarena. All of these wonderful moments in my life seem to go along to a soundtrack comprised of an eclectic selection of songs. I find myself sitting at the computer not only writing to you all but listening to music as i go along. Recently i have been thinking that there is a vital difference between a vocalist and a performer. Vocalists can often times be performers but very rarely is it the other way around. It seems to me that the music industry went through a 'funk' in the recent years where performers were more valued (and more valuable) than a true singer. I am glad to say that true musicians seem to be making a comeback. Not to say that there were not truly gifted artists during the aforementioned 'funk' but i do feel that they were far and few between. Now young(er) artists like Adele or Mumford and Sons seem to be more concerned with writing and producing solid music than fancy pyrotechnics or elaborate dance routines.
A new muse in my life is Adele. I must give props to my brother William for introducing me to her angelic voice. This girl looks so unassuming and pleasant, yet when she begins to sing there is pure vocal brilliance to behold. Her music makes me smile. It makes me sing and want to dance. It makes me appreciate the overlooked and undervalued simplicity of a good song. I simply cant get enough of her. She recalls the times of Ella Fitzgerald and Aretha (no last name needed), where fancy footwork in the studio wasn't available to aid as a crutch for mediocre singers. Pure talent can never be over-rated. Amen.
Look forward to future entries centered around music, it seems my life already does. Through the good and the bad songs keep the memories alive and fresh. Can you dig it?

Beginnings
blog |bläg|nouna Web site on which an individual or group of users produces an ongoing narrative : Most of his work colleagues were unaware of his blog until recently.
An ongoing narrative of my life. How do i make a rather boring existence sound interesting? Although i am a child born into the modern technological age i find myself writing the very first blog posting in my life. I feel a large burden placed on the shoulders of the blog writer to find something relevant, witty, interesting and satisfying to share with the world and i fear i have nothing to contribute. I would like to think there are people out in this large world that are interested in the things i say (however mundane they may be) and who find a sliver of enjoyment in reading my words. The small gift i can bring to the table is this: here are the things that run through my mind and make me pause. This blog is intended to reflect the inward thoughts i keep to myself out into this vast world and share a little bit of me.
Thank you kind reader, you have given me my own sliver of enjoyment.
